Blockade Runners are a set of Tech 2 industrial style ships. These ships trade cargo space for speed, agility, and the ability to fit a Covert Ops cloak. They are very useful for hauling expensive, high risk items through all types of space, hostile or not.
These ships have the CPU and powergrid to fit a cruiser sized (10mn) microwarpdrive along with a tank, so even if targeted they have speed and a bit of buffer to rely on while making their escape.
Blockade Runners are also able to make use of a Black Ops bridge. Large Black Ops gangs usually fly around with one or more Blockade Runner filled with fuel or other supplies. They also come in handy for deploying equipment in highly hostile territory, because of their agility and ability to cloak.
As of Kronos update (June 2014) Blockade Runners have been gifted with exceptional agility and warp speed. With appropriate rigs and modules, they can align and warp as fast as an interceptor, making them ideal for losec travel.
