The Cormorant is the only State-produced space vessel whose design has come from a third party. Rumors abound, of course, but the designer's identity has remained a tightly-kept secret in the State's inner circle.

The Cormorant is the Caldari destroyer and as such, is good at two things: Level 1 missions and salvaging. Level 1 missions are only useful as a stepping stone to higher Level (and thus more lucrative) missions. Test Alliance cannot safely traverse high security space due to numerous wars (we didn't want that space anyway), so the Cormorant largely only sees service as a salvaging boat.
