Rorqual

Overview

The Rorqual was conceived and designed by Outer Ring Excavations in response to a growing need for capital industry platforms with the ability to support and sustain large-scale mining operations in uninhabited areas of space.

To that end, the Rorqual's primary strength lies in its ability to grind raw ores into particles of smaller size than possible before, while still maintaining their distinctive molecular structure. This means the vessel is able to carry vast amounts of ore in compressed form.

Additionally, the Rorqual is able to fit a capital tractor beam unit, capable of pulling in cargo containers from far greater distances and at far greater speeds than smaller beams can. It also possesses a sizeable drone bay, jump drive capability and the capacity to fit a clone vat bay. This combination of elements makes the Rorqual the ideal nexus to build deep space mining operations around.

Due to its specialization towards industrial operations, its ship maintenance bay is able to accommodate only industrial ships, mining barges and their tech 2 variants.

Note: Always fit a Cynosural Field Generator with liquid ozone. —-

Notes:

If you can run T2 Drones and Industrial Core, do so. Otherwise you should fly Faction drones and Industrial Core I. You should always have 2 'Wetu' Mobile Depots and have them deployed next to you whenever you are mining. I would recommend sticking to this fit until your Rorqual has been fully paid off.

When enemies are close:

1. Turn off your Industrial core 2. Make sure your 'Wetu' Mobile Depot is setup and move your Excavators into it. (Your Excavator drones are more expensive than your hull. So even if you lose your ship, you can save the majority of your assets by doing this)

a. If you are using a non boosting fit that is not max tanked, switch to it immediately.

3. When your Industrial Core shuts down, align to a Citadel, (preferably one that you can dock in) and warp to it. 4. Wait until the enemies have left the Constellation to return to mining.

a. If a friendly Rorqual is tackled, you should probably reship and join the rescue fleet if possible.

When attacked, contact an FC and send out a ping and/or have someone in comms do so. This is crucial in order to save your Rorqual. While you are talking in comms, make sure you:

1. Use your tank mods until your shield get to about half or 1/3 and then use the P.A.N.I.C. module

a. You can try to tank for a little longer, but remember that the P.A.N.I.C. module will not work if the shields are down!
b. If at any point you see a Mobile Cynosural Inhibitor launch, immediately activate your Cynosural Field Generator I

2. Rep to full shields while in P.A.N.I.C. 3. Assuming you have contacted an FC, they will give you further instructions.

a. If you have not contacted an FC, you need to do it ASAP. Otherwise you will probably be dead at the end of the P.A.N.I.C. modules cycle.
