Raven
Overview
The Caldari missile battleship. Most likely the most common battleship in the game. Less useful in fleet ops than the other races' battleships due to the travel time of missiles, unless the Raven is in close proximity to its targets. For mission running and PvE, the Raven is the best Tech 1 battleship in the game thanks to being able to devote its entire mid rack to a shield tank and deal bonused damage of any type across considerable range.
The nerf to torpedo range has made it highly advisable to use flight time and velocity rigs and possibly Javelin torpedoes to reach longer distances when using torpedoes. Cruise missiles have fewer issues with range and do more damage against smaller targets, but they do considerably less damage than torpedoes when engaging battleship or larger targets. Primarily used as a solo L4 mission running ship, the Raven can withstand significant amounts of damage while outputting massive amounts of it's own DPS. The Raven is the powerhouse of the Caldari, opposite of the Scorpion, it has 6 launcher spaces for maximum long or short range DPS. Many people choose to fit it differently, some common fits include a buffer tank, passive tank, or active shield tank.
In small-gang PVP, a torp Raven can add a terrifying ~800 dps from 25-30km away while his fleetmates tackle. Fitting some semblance of tank, however, requires 1 or 2 fitting mods.
Those interested in using a long range Caldari battleship for PvP should consider the Scorpion for Electronic Warfare or the Rokh for Sniping.

Aphalionex's "I don't like to lose money" Insurance Scam Raven
This fit is for a Raven that will cost almost nothing. If you buy a Raven for under 76 million ISK, you can fit it like this and have fun while not worrying about losing any money. It is a really crappy fit, and can be changed drastically. A Raven with 3x target painters and about 4x Ballistic control systems can be used for extreme DPS with no tank.

Buffer Raven (Shield & Cap RR) T1 Torpedo's
Has about 117K ehp and does over 800 dps [use explosive missles against armor tankers and EM against shield tankers T2 hacs are a bit more complicated]. Major draw backs are lack of speed mod and potentially weak to ECM. If you can use T2 torps consider fitting a target painter instead of a scram or even 2 Tps and drops one of the invul fields. For T2 torps lower the shield RR to the meta 4 version.

* If you have really good skills, fit a co-processor II in place of the Capacitor Flux Coil II, replace the arbalests with T2 cruise launchers, and you've still got room for a tractor and salvager. * Warp in to your mission, set your drones on the scrambling rats, align out, then start chewing through the rest of the mission rats accordingly. * If you get caught/scanned out then you are almost certainly fucked, end of story.

Only to be used on the final encounter, but holy shit this fit shits out DPS. Get within range of the mothership, switch to Rage and go to town blasting out over 900 DPS.
