Dominix

Looking for DOCTRINE FITS?

Overview

The Dominix is one of the old warhorses dating back to the Gallente-Caldari War. While no longer regarded as the king of the hill, it is by no means obsolete. Its formidable hulk and powerful drone arsenal means that anyone not in the largest and latest battleships will regret ever locking horns with it.

Traits

Gallente Battleship bonuses (per skill level):

  • 10% bonus to Drone hitpoints and damage
  • 7.5% bonus to Drone optimal range and tracking speed

Requirements

  • Gallente Battleship I
    • Spaceship Command IV
    • Gallente Battlecruiser III
      • Spaceship Command III
      • Gallente Cruiser III
        • Spaceship Command II
        • Gallente Destroyer III
          • Gallente Frigate III
            • Spaceship Command I
  • Gallente Battleship IV (for AFK Ratting)

Ratting

Before the VNI ratting meta, there once was the Domi Ratter. In early 2019, the esteemed Sapporo Jones took it upon himself to bring back the Domi for many reasons he laid out in a much more in-depth post on the Forums. It is highly recommended you read it in full, but if you are lazy the tl;dr is included here.

Why The Domi?

People have been AFK-ratting in Vexors for ages, to the point where it is literally a meme. Why is the Domi worth the switch?

The advantages to the Dominix class battleship include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • You can build them locally in Esoteria or wherever we live
  • We are able to keep the price controlled rather than have control over the price and supply held by some external entity
  • You have 5x the effective hit points so you have a far greater margin for error than in a VNI
  • You are able to fit a cyno without need for an implant, as you have far greater fitting room than a VNI
  • You have an extra 175m3 of drone cargo space, which means you can have extra Praetors in addition to having combat lights to keep stuff off of you
  • Your Dominix class battleship is cap stable, meaning you can turn on all the things and walk away and your ship won't run out of cap and die
  • Your Dominix class battleship has enough regen and tank to not need gimmicks like orbiting or prop modding
  • Because you have so much more effective hit points, and aren't depending on speed to survive, a cyno will likely actually save you
  • Because you have so much more effective hit points you have plenty of time to come to Fleet 6 or your corp channel on mumble and get assistance
  • Tackle is BUILT IN to the fit and the process. Small stuff that comes to harass you while you rat is going to die.

The Process

Using a battleship means your drones are going to get primaried more often. The ratting fit below has some ways for you to avoid losing drones while AFK ratting but you have to follow the following process EXACTLY.

  1. Find a Forsaken Hub or a Rally Point
  2. Activate shit in warp or when you land
  3. Lock up all the things
  4. wait for the rats to start aggressing you
  5. pick a rat and warp disrupt it
  6. launch drones and send them at a rat
  7. use autotarget if you want

You may wonder to yourself if you can activate the auto-targetter at other points. Maybe. Fact is the auto-targetter has ZERO IMPACT on rat aggro, it's in the process as the last step because some of you are degenerate superstitious pieces of subhuman garbage and if the fit didn't pay lip service to the tribal knowledge of auto-targetter being important people would bitch about it. It can be useful as it locks up all the rats (allowing you tab back and see at a glance the wave progress) but is not necessary.

Seriously people checked, AT doesn't help.

It's important you have the heavies start clearing the battleships and not bother with the cruisers until later. The cruisers are the rats that you need to aggro anyways so they stay focused on you, so that's what we're gonna tackle to get their attention.

Once you complete step 7 (which we all know is unnecessary and which we all know you are going to do anyways) that's it. Your 'tackle aggro' will persist through the end of the site.
