Faction Warfare Plexing

Offensive Plexing

Plexing is one of the easiest ways to make LP in faction warfare. The basics are that you warp to the site, kill the rat in the site and wait until the timer runs out then do it again.

Faction warfare plexes come in four different sizes each larger size has looser restrictions on the ship types allowed in. Novice, small-sized Plex only allows T1 frigates, including faction frigs but not noobships. Small, small-sized Plex only allows T1, T2 and faction frigates but not noobships; T1 and T2 destroyers Medium, medium sized Plex only allows T1, T2 and faction frigates but not noobships; T1 and T2 destroyers; T1, T2 and faction cruisers Large is without any acceleration gate thus no restriction (yes, it allows even capital ships in).

Each Plex has a rat inside that you must kill to begin capturing the plex. A Novice has 1 or 2 frigs, a Small has either 2 destroyers or two frigs, a Medium has 1 to 2 cruisers and the Large has a battlecruiser.

After killing the rat you need to stay near the capture point (make sure this is on your overview) for an amount of time based on the Plex size. You must be decloaked and in a real ship (not a pod or shuttle) for the timer to count down.

RadiusTimeShips AllowedNPC SpawnedAcceleration Gate
Novice30km10 minutesIndustrials, Frigates (no Noobships)FrigateYes
Small 30km 15 minutesPrevious + Assault ships/T2 frigates and DestroyersDestroyerYes
Medium 30km 20 minutesAll Previous + T2 Cruisers + BattlecruisersCruiserYes
Large 30km 20 minutesNo ship restrictionBattlecruiserNo

LP rewards for the plexes depend on how well your faction is doing in the warzone which is directly related to the number of systems captured in the name of your faction. There are 5 tiers of control each increases the LP gain from plexes and missions.

Medium1250025000437506250081250
Large1500030000525007500097500

The tactics you’ll want to use heavily involve D-Scan. Start out by using a long range 5° scan on the plex to determine if it is empty. If it is empty or you have decided “fuck it I’ll fight that” warp to the plex and set your D-Scan to 500k km so you can see what is in the plex, at the gate or warping to the plex and start spamming it any time there are hostiles in system.

There are two ways to find plexes one is on your overview and the other is using your ship’s scanner. If you have a plex on the overview this means someone has already scanned it and warped to it, it may or may not be empty. With these types you can sometimes get lucky and find one with only a few minutes left on the timer and ninja it, other times it could be a trap always watch D-Scan and hope there isn’t a cloaky in there with you. Using your ship’s scanner plexes will show up as anomalies. With these types you will always be the first one to warp to it.

Defensive Plexing

Defensive plexing payouts are significantly smaller than Offensive plexing payouts, and are based both on Warzone Control and system contestation. The exact formula used to calculate the amount of payout you will receive for defensive plexing is:

LP Gain = Base value of plex * (Contested percentage of the system/100) * 0.75

Where the 'Base value of plex' is the amount you would receive if the plex was an offensive plex. (ie: the base value times your Warzone Control factor.)

Therefore, running a Medium plex at Tier 3 in a system that is 50% contested will yield 43,750 * (50/100) * 0.75 = 16,406 LP

Defensive plexing requires no combat skills whatsoever. When defensive plexing I like to run in fast frigs with warp core stabs or Ventures.

PVP Loyalty Point Calculation

Loyalty Points = Market value of target ship - Max Insurance market value + Fitted mods, rigs and subsystem market value + Transported items market value) / 10000

Fits

Anything along these lines, make sure it does kinetic damage and tanks thermal and kinetic. I’ve done Mediums in Plexing Ventures these sites are not hard. PVP fit if you want just watch out for the 1337 PVPers in their 200 mil isk faction ships with offgrid boosts.
