Friendship Cyno Fleet

There's almost always a cyno fleet up that should be used pretty much any time you're lighting a cyno on a citadel. Much like a standing fleet, if there's not an existing cyno fleet, please make one. It's generally easier to use than even making your own fleet, since each character can just use the advert to join instead of having to invite. And you might get free isk from other people who use your cyno.

There will often be long-standing cynos for the most common systems.

PLEASE TIP! If you appreciate having this service, tips for the cynos goes a long way. The common fit for a cyno industrial runs about 20m, plus effort and ozone and whatnot. A tip of 1-5m is appropriate for common systems. Use the lower end in more common, quiet places like D-P, and higher in less common or dangerous places. People follow the money, and it doesn't take much. So if you like having these constant cynos available, even a tip of 1 million means at least they know they were useful. I would happily pay 20 million to be able to JF from D-P to Amarr round trip without ever having to light my own cyno.

This is at your own risk, of course, but there are some common sense guidelines to keep yourself safe.

  • BEFORE YOU UNDOCK, join the fleet, flag exempt from fleet warp, and verify you joined the correct fleet.

You're responsible for trusting/verifying the cyno you're jumping to. You'll get to know names after a time. If you're a veteran of the cyno fleet and see a new guy lighting a cyno, checking up on him (or getting someone you trust to do so) isn't a bad idea. We haven't had an issue yet, but it's good to keep security in mind.

  • Join fleet BEFORE you undock
  • Flag yourself exempt from fleet warp.
  • Do NOT light cynos that aren't safely on a citadel

Making the MOTD

Method 1 - The Easy Way

* When you're in a fleet that has the proper MOTD up, click the menu icon on the top left of the fleet window and select “Store Fleet Setup”. Watch for an error message about naming wings, and ask the FC to fix it if needed. When creating the fleet use “Form Fleet with Setup” in the fleet menu.

Method 2 - The ESI Way
  • Click Authorize and select
  • esi-fleets.read_fleet.v1
  • esi-fleets.write_fleet.v1
  • Scroll to the bottom, click Authorize and log in with the character who controls the fleet.
  • In game on the fleet window, select the menu icon and “Copy External Fleet Link”
  • Back on the ESI page, paste in the external fleet link to the fleet_id field. Erase everything but the number at the end.
  • Paste the code block below into “new_settings”
  • Hit “try it out”.
  • Your new MOTD should now appear. Make sure to Store Fleet Setup in the fleet menu.

When you create the fleet, use the saved fleet setup. You can do this directly when creating the fleet “Create fleet with setup >” or after the fleet is already made.
