Tengu

Overview

The Tengu is the Caldari Strategic Cruiser. Like all Strategic Cruisers, it can be fit with myriad subsystems which alter the slot layout, bonuses, and other attributes of the basic hull. Most often, the Tengu is used as a pseudo-Drake/Cerberus, with rapid firing, long range missiles and a heavy passive or active tank for PVE purposes. For PVP it can be fit similarly. There are also some shitty fits possible with blasters or rails that manage to generally be worse than the Eagle or Deimos. Don't use hybrids on the Tengu.

When we first saw the flock, we were surrounded, caught in a spectacle of stimuli. Brilliant colors, dancing lights, beautiful cacophonies, wafting ambrosia. Those birds surrounded us, each one a different shape, an altered species, a new wonder. I tried to follow a single bird, but my efforts were futile: Transformation is natural to their existence. Imagine it: an undulating mass, a changing mob, all those beasts partaking in wonderful transmogrification.

These were our augurs, our deliverers, our saviors. Standing amidst the flock, we should have feared their glory; instead, we drew hope. This moment is the first time I understood what it meant to be Caldari: Divinity in the flock, delivery in flux, one being, many changes.

Naturally, fits vary slightly – sometimes it's ECM in the mids, sometimes damps, sometimes other EWAR. Mids also varied slightly with ABs being substituted with faction or meta equivalents, as well as ammo being freely switched out during the fight to adapt to the circumstances.

First off, this thing requires one of two things: Either a CPU implant (Zainou 'Gypsy' Electronics EE-602 or better, slot 6) or another bag of dosh to swap out one or multiple mods out for their faction or meta variants (the Caldari Navy Ballistic Control Systems being the most popular option, you can also choose a meta shield boost amplifier, I recommend against changing the other mods). I opted for the implant as this keeps the entire thing under 700m.

That said, at all 5 skills it tanks just under 500 omni DPS, 979 Serpentis DPS or 1027 Guristas DPS. WHILE SITTING STILL. Deal with it. Naturally you'll be orbiting something in the anomaly so the actual damage tanked should be even higher. Feel free to swap the invulns out for one kinetic and one thermic hardener, I have not found this to be worth it however as ratter-killers will have a lot tougher time killing you when semi-omnitanking.

With all 5 skills and Scourge Heavy Missiles (the t1 variant) it does 525 DPS. With Scourge Fury Heavy Missiles it deals 672 DPS. With Heavy Missile implants (I took the 3% variants - HM-703 (heavy missile damage, slot 7) and RL-1003 (rapid launch, higher missile rate of fire, slot 10), GP-803 (guided missile precision, hit small things better, slot 8) and TN-903 (target navigation prediction, to hit fast things better, slot 9)) this goes up to 557 and 713 DPS, respectively. The implants aren't that expensive, especially if you're shelling out for CNBCSs.
