====== Joining Dreddit ======

Dreddit is a primarily English-speaking EVE Online corporation mostly made up of [[http://www.reddit.com|Reddit.com]] members and their friends/family. To keep in the theme of Reddit we've got a very laid back community with no real hard and fast rules on how often you play and how you like to play. A Reddit account is no longer required to join.

Dreddit is the founder of "Test Alliance Please Ignore", one of the largest alliances in EVE Online.

====== Returning Veterans ======

You will have to create a new application on Auth and submit an in-game application. If in doubt refer to the steps outlined below.

Protip: Adding a note about being a vet to your auth app helps HR and saves many many kittens.

**Please note**: As a returning member, **do not** create a new Auth account!

====== Applying to Dreddit ======

There are multiple methods for joining Dreddit:

  * 1. Apply on your own
  * 2. Apply with a [[:corps:dreddit:internal:divisions:hr:recommendations|recommendation]] from a member of Dreddit.
  * 3. Apply as a former member.
  * 4. Apply as a member of an allied entity.
  * 5. Apply on your own with a [[:corps:dreddit:arts_and_crafts|Arts & Crafts assignment.]]

With the rise of Alpha accounts, 21 day trials no longer exist. The referral rewards have changed: The account being referred will receive **1 million **skill points. If you have multiple accounts, you can use those other accounts to give yourself a referral in order to receive both of the rewards on your main and your alt. If you are starting a new account, you can check the [[http://reddit.com/r/evedreddit/|Subreddit sidebar]] for a referral link. The awards for those upgrade accounts will go to Dreddit.


**If you biomass any characters with an open application to Dreddit, it will slow down the proccessing of your application.**

**Do not apply unless you are ready to be accepted in game, all pleas to wait for you to "get ready" will be ignored.**

===== Applying on your own =====

If you match the requirements above, then follow the instructions below for applying on your own. If you know a current member of Dreddit you could try applying with a recommendation.

Follow the directions for the [[:it:auth|Auth System]], and do the following in Auth:

  - **MAKE SURE YOU AUTHENTICATE EVERY CHARACTER YOU CONTROL ON EVERY ACCOUNT THROUGH THE ESI LINK IN AUTH!!!!!!**
  - Click on the "HR" tab in Auth and select "[[https://auth.pleaseignore.com/hr/application/add/|Create an application]]"
  - Select the Character you wish to apply with and the corp you want to apply to (probably **Dreddit**) and click "Apply".
  - Please tell why you want to join Dreddit, what you do for ISK, and what you do for fun in EVE. This will help you get a quicker response. You can also join our Discord found here: https://dredditisrecruiting.com/ and chat in the HR channel for faster responses
  - **Click "Submit Application" and it should take you back to a list of your current applications**.
  - **Drop roles.**
  - **Wait for an acceptance letter in Auth.**
  - **Apply for an invitation to Dreddit in game after you have been accepted in Auth.**
  - **Wait for an invitation to be extended to you.**
  - **Accept the invitation.**


===== Applying with a recommendation =====

If you are not yet a reddit member, or your reddit account does not meet the requirements, your application must come with a recommendation from a current member of Dreddit who //does// fulfill them. You will still need a validated reddit account for this.

**Recommendations are linked permanently.** If a recommended member is kicked for any reason, the person who recommended them will inherit the blame and may face similar punishment. Non-redditors recommended by a member that is kicked may also be kicked. **The Dredditor recommending you needs to currently be in Dreddit for their recommendation to be valid!**

To apply with a recommendation:

  - (Optional) [[http://www.reddit.com/login|Create a reddit]] account if you don't have one
  - Follow the steps 1 through 8 in the "Applying on your Own" section.
  - Have your sponsor follow the instructions on the [[:corps:dreddit:internal:divisions:hr:recommendations|]] page.
  - Once your sponsor has done their part you may submit the application.
  - Tell us why you want to join Dreddit, what you do for ISK, and what you do for fun in EVE. This will you get a quicker response.
  - **Drop roles.**
  - **Wait for an acceptance letter in Auth.**
  - **Apply for an invitation to Dreddit in game after you have been accepted in Auth.**
  - **Wait for an invitation to be extended to you.**
  - **Accept the invitation.**


===== Former Members =====

Former members of Dreddit, or any member corporation in TEST Alliance are eligible to re-apply for membership provided the member left in good standing (you must still apply with your highest SP character).

DO NOT CREATE AN ADDITIONAL AUTH ACCOUNT. If you cannot access your account, please contact us. Creating multiple auth accounts causes many issues.

Note that Eve's API changed from the XML keys to a system called ESI. You'll need to hit the dark grey [EVE | Test Alliance] button on Auth, and log in with each of your CHARACTERS, not once per account. There is a "switch character" dropdown.

To apply as a former member:

  - Log into auth
  - **MAKE SURE YOU AUTHENTICATE EVERY CHARACTER YOU CONTROL ON EVERY ACCOUNT THROUGH THE ESI LINK IN AUTH!!!!!!**
  - Click on the "HR" tab in Auth and select "[[https://auth.pleaseignore.com/hr/application/add/|Create an application]]"
  - Select the Character you wish to apply with and the corp you want to apply to (probably **Dreddit**) and click "Apply".
  - Tell us why you want to come back. This will help speed up the application process
  - **Click "Submit Application" and it should take you back to a list of your current applications**.
  - **After you have clicked "Submit Application" go to the "HR-Public" channel in the Dreddit discord and link your application mentioning you are a returning vet.**
  - **Drop roles.**
  - **Wait for an acceptance letter in Auth.**
  - **Apply for an invitation to Dreddit in game after you have been accepted in Auth.**
  - **Wait for an invitation to be extended to you.**
  - **Accept the invitation.**


===== Joining from Allies =====

If you've been in an alliance that's blue to TEST Alliance for 30 days or longer (you must be active), you now no longer need to have an active Reddit account to join Dreddit. This will be dependent on your in-game activity.

To apply as an ally:

  - Log into auth
  - **MAKE SURE YOU AUTHENTICATE EVERY CHARACTER YOU CONTROL ON EVERY ACCOUNT THROUGH THE ESI LINK IN AUTH!!!!!!**
  - (Optional)[[https://auth.pleaseignore.com/profile/add/reddit|Add your reddit account]].
  - (Optional)Make sure you are logged in to your reddit account, otherwise [[http://www.reddit.com/login|log into your reddit account]].
  - (Optional)To validate your reddit account within the [[:it:auth|Auth System]] click the **validate**  link from the [[https://auth.pleaseignore.com/profile/|main page]], and send the private message that auth redirects you to.
  - Click on the "HR" tab in Auth and select "[[https://auth.pleaseignore.com/hr/application/add/|Create an application]]"
  - Select the Character you wish to apply with and the corp you want to apply to (probably **Dreddit**) and click "Apply".
  - Tell us why you want to leave your current corporation and why you want to join Dreddit.
  - **Click "Submit Application" and it should take you back to a list of your current applications**.
  - **Drop roles.**
  - **Wait for an acceptance letter in Auth.**
  - **Apply for an invitation to Dreddit in game after you have been accepted in Auth.**
  - **Wait for an invitation to be extended to you.**
  - **Accept the invitation.**
  * DO NOT apply in-game once you've submitted your application
  * Add all your EVE accounts to Auth
  * Check your application on Auth from time to time

===== Applying With Alts =====

Alt characters are accepted and welcome, just follow the instructions [[:corps:dreddit:internal:divisions:hr:alts|here]]. **Do not**  apply with your alts before your main character is accepted. If you do so, your alt applications will be withdrawn and you will have to resubmit them if you are accepted.

===== Applying in game =====

  - **ONLY SUBMIT AN IN-GAME APPLICATION IF YOU HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED IN AUTH AND INSTRUCTED TO APPLY IN-GAME!!!**
  - Dock at a station.
  - On your left menu, find the "People & Locations" button towards the top.
  - On the window that pops up, select "Corporation", type in "Dreddit" and click Search.
  - In the list that appears, right click on Dreddit and "Show Info".
  - At the bottom of the popup window, select Apply to Join. You do not need to enter any text into the application text box, just click the Submit button.

===== Dropping Roles =====

If you've been a member of another corporation, it is possible that you have roles assigned to you allowing you to access the corporate hangar or do various other corp level actions. You need to drop these roles before you can be accepted into Dreddit. As part of this you are put into a 24 hour cooldown period before you can actually quit the corporation, so its advisable you do this as soon as possible. **You don't need to actually leave the corporation. Just drop roles.**

**Please note that your application may be rejected in case you've failed to drop roles.**

  - In the "Corporation" chat channel, find yourself in the player list.
  - Right click yourself and find the option "Prepare to quit corporation".

Or

  - On your left menu, find the "Corporation" button.
  - Click on the "Home" tab, then switch to the "Details" tab.
  - Click "Prepare to quit Corp" and confirm that you want to drop roles (this takes 24 hours).

====== What's Next ======

Once your application has been accepted, your in game application will also be accepted and you will be notified by email. Upon joining Dreddit, you are **required**  to read the [[:training:new_member_guide|]] to get up to speed with what is happening in the alliance and any programs or campaigns we're running.

Within 24 hours of being accepted into Dreddit in game, you will be able to use Auth to register and access the other services that Dreddit offers:

====== FAQ ======

=== How long does it usually take for my application to be processed? ===

Most applications are processed within 48-72 hours but at peak times it can take longer than that. Please wait at least a week before contacting HR or posting on r/evedreddit.

===== Why was I rejected? =====

Please read the message sent to you via reddit/displayed in your application on Auth carefully, it states the reason for your rejection.

===== I've been accepted but services don't work, help?! =====

Services will only work if the EVE API shows your character as a member of Dreddit/TEST. Please wait at least 24h after being accepted in-game before contacting anyone about this. Some users have reported changing the capitalization of the username – reddit's API can be weird.

===== Auth says my reddit account does not exist =====

This can be caused by the reddit API timing out, please wait an hour or two and try again.

===== I'm a lurker, help? =====

Join under other criteria, such as recommendation or SP.

===== I can't select my character when creating an application =====

Please ensure that you have authenticated the character by logging in through the ESI link in AUTH

=== I'm already in TEST, can I join Dreddit? ===

TEST members who wish to join Dreddit need to meet the [[:corps:dreddit:joining#applying_on_your_own|standard entry requirements]]. Being a member of a TEST corporation (or other allied corporations) will **not**  allow you to bypass these requirements.

===== I am having trouble adding a recommendation =====

Recommendations can only be added to **unsubmitted**  application. Double check that the application is **unsubmitted**  and **NOT**  submitted. If you are still having problems, contact HR.

===== In-game =====

Should you have any questions, the simplest way to get answers is to add a message to your application. The quickest way to find an HR person, is via discord: https://dredditisrecruiting.com/ | There is also usually at least one member of Dreddit HR in the in-game channel "**Dreddit Recruitment**", or someone who's able to get in touch with HR for you. If you feel the need to, you can try contacting the HR Drone that has processed your application, their character name should be somewhat similar to the auth username you see on the messages and status changes in your application. In any case someone should be able to help you.

**Please note that from time to time we're just trying to play the game. If your convo gets rejected, please don't take it personally. We're probably just busy doing things.**
